Mountain Springs Preparatory Academy is located in Cedar City, southern Utah. It has a generous campus area surrounded by a safe neighborhood. The main building is amazingly efficient with classrooms (where real teachers give real instruction), cafeteria, advisors offices, nurses office, administration all enclosed. There are close independent living quarters in townhomes for both international and domestic clients, ages 16 and older. The bulk of the students are somewhere between 16 and 18, and in need of finishing high school with a diploma. Students likely come directly from a private or public school, or from a wilderness treatment center, or sober treatment center. These are good kids who push the boundaries, and need structure to get back on track and be successful.
Additionally, there is a university (Southern Utah University, www.suu.edu) within close proximity to MSPA. The older students who finish high school and want to continue their educational journey in a nearby university are given a tremendous opportunity.
The students I met with myself in my recent visit were from international and US communities. They clearly articulated the reasons why they were attending MSPA, what benefit it provides to them, and their inspirations and plans for their future. Plus, they introduced to me their advisors who knew their family and their cultural uniqueness. I had a truly, wonderful tour and knew that the students whom I’ve previously placed at MSPA have done well for good reason: a very committed staff who are personable. Plus they have an amazing dog as a host.
Contact myself and I’ll put you in touch with MSPA directly. I only recommend schools for international families that are on my partner’s roster, and I’m please to report MSPA as one of these great educational options.
